New lodgings for teachers in Sapa
Following the successful completion of a boarding house construction project at Nam Sai Primary School, not far from Topas Riverside Lodge, Topas was able to provide further support for the upgrade of the teachers’ accommodation at the same school. Read on to find out more about the work Topas is doing to support local communities.
Just 7km from Topas Riverside Lodge, Nam Sai Primary School provides lodgings for teachers whose hometowns are far away. The former building was in a bad condition, damaged over the years by the weather and general use, and provided inadequate protection from the wind and rain.
Following an initial inspection visit, Topas was able to offer financial and practical support for the construction of new accomodation for the teachers, with assistance from our partner, the Frederiksborg Gymnasium, Denmark.
The project was completed within four months under the management of Mr. Kien Tran, Topas group project manager.
The new living quarters include three private rooms for teachers, each with an area of 26m2. Each room has a private toilet and heated shower as well as a kitchen area inside the room. The total cost of the project was 438,563,500 VND.
Upon completion, Topas Group CEO Mr. Lasse Solvsten Olsson attended a handover ceremony with the participation of members of the local government and teachers and students of Nam Sai Primary School. The ceremony was very meaningful for all involved, with the teachers pleased to have access to a better standard of living while they are working.
